A lady who wantedly robbed jewellery valuing 4 sovereigns from 2 patients in a hospital was taken into custody on Monday.

Shanti aged 40, a native of Wallajahbad near Kanchipuram, stole the jewels from 2 women who were awaiting their turn for a birth-control operation at the Chrompet General Hospital.

According to police, Jayalaskhmi 30 and Malathi 40 were standing outside the operation theatre wearing gold chains when Shanti, acting as a worker at the hospital, demanded them to give her their chains saying that they would not be let inside the theatre if they did not unwear them. The women did as they were told.
